ORION Observer-II D=70mm/F=700mm Refractor Telescope |
The Observer II 70mm Altazimuth Refractor Telescope is a great choice for beginning stargazers thanks to its versatility and simple, easy-to-use design. It is a very lightweight and compact telescope, so it's easy to carry to any observing location, whether you're just going to the backyard or driving to darker skies.
For beginning stargazers who want a starter telescope capable of providing more oomph, more performance than a traditional 60mm refractor, we present the Orion Observer II 70mm Altazimuth Refractor Telescope. Compared to a 60mm refractor, the larger 70mm Observer II can reveal an even greater variety of stellar gems and provide brighter views of popular favorites like the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and the Orion Nebula with greater resolution. The Orion Observer II 70 Altazimuth Refractor Telescope features an achromatic glass objective lens that's 70mm in diameter, with a focal length of 700mm (f/10). This glass lens takes in 36% more light than a 60mm lens for brighter, clearer views. Bottom line: you'll see more than you would through telescope with a smaller aperture.
The Observer II 70mm Refractor Telescope comes with everything you need to start observing the night sky right away. Two included telescope eyepieces, a 25mm and 10mm Kellner, provide two different magnification options right out of the box! Each eyepiece features anti-reflection coating to help optimize your observations of the night sky. We recommend starting with the 25mm ocular to obtain wide, 28x views. Then for closer looks, you can boost the power all the way up to 70x by using the 10mm telescope eyepiece. An included accessory tray for the tripod provides a convenient spot to keep your eyepieces ready for action. The included red-dot sight makes aiming the telescope nice and easy. Following a simple alignment procedure that parents can help with, you can use the reflex sight to accurately aim the Observer II 70mm telescope at objects in the sky like the Moon and bright planets. |
 |
A 90° star diagonal is included for comfortable nighttime viewing.
A diagonal bends the light path of a telescope so you can view the sky comfortably. Without a diagonal, you'd have to look straight-through the telescope, which can be tricky and downright uncomfortable when looking at certain areas of the sky. Bending the light collected by the Observer II 70mm telescope at a 90° angle lets you look down into the eyepiece so you can relax and enjoy the view. |

Use the Orion MoonMap 260 to learn more about the lunar features you see in the telescope.
With locations and names of over 260 features on the Moon such as craters, mountains, valleys, "seas" and more, the included Orion MoonMap 260 is a great tool for beginning astronomers. This detailed map will even show you where various spacecraft have landed on the Moon's surface! The MoonMap 260 can be used to plan what to look at on the Moon, and to learn the official names of all the interesting lunar landscape features you see in the Observer II 70mm Refractor Telescope. |
Thanks to its easy-to-use altazimuth mount and quality optics, the Orion Observer 70 mm refractor telescope works well for both daytime terrestrial viewing and nighttime astronomical use. The included altazimuth mount offers intuitive up/down (altitude) and left/right (azimuth) motion to make maneuvering the telescope easy. Whether you're scanning a scenic landscape or surveying the Milky Way for star clusters, this telescope will provide a pleasant experience. The telescope tube and altazimuth mount are supported on an aluminum tripod that can be adjusted to a comfortable height for virtually any observer.
The Observer II 70 Altazimuth Refractor is easy for anyone in the family to operate, and its affordable price makes it a great telescope to start with as you discover the rewarding hobby of amateur astronomy. Order yours today! |
